At then I realized how grown up she is

So today I got a text from my husband that my daughter was sick and he was going to get her from school. First thing I thought of was how sad I was that I was not the one to be taking care of my baby. The minute I got home, at 4pm I knew what was wrong. STREP THROAT! We have avoided this for awhile since Lauren had her tonsils out, but I know that does not make you immune to the illness. I knew I could not wait until tomorrow to help her, so thanks to a wonderful neighbor who volunteered to stay late so I could take her without her two brothers, I headed to the immediate care.

They did the test and it was negative, but due to her symptoms he gave us an antibiotic because he was sure the in depth test they took that takes longer to get results would be positive. He said she could go back to school when she was feeling up to it and sent us on our way.

Here is what this incident has taught me. First, my little baby is the exact opposite of a baby. She is only 9 inches away from being as tall as me. She can also take grown up pills and no longer needs the liquid form. This is Wonderful for me because I have to fight to get her to take medicine because she hates all medicine. However, with all the good news, I have realized that my baby is so grown up. She was able to take care of herself for the most part today while I was gone. She told me she wanted milk, but knew it would upset her stomach so she opted for Sprite to settle her stomach. I feel like any day she is going to be asking me to go on her first date. I knew I could not keep her a baby forever, but I was hoping she would not pass me up in height by age nine!

I am not ready but as we sit watching The Voice together I know that there will be things I will look forward to doing with her that we can do now that she is old enough to appreciate and understand them.

Now if AJ comes home from school with a drivers license just shoot me!
